ORDIT Accredited Instructor Training

Train with an ORDIT Registered Instructor Trainer

Choosing the right instructor trainer is one of the most important decisions you'll make on your journey to becoming an Approved Driving Instructor.

Phil Hirst has been an ORDIT registered instructor trainer since 1998, providing structured, professional training that's aligned with current DVSA standards and recognised best practice. When you train with Phil, you can be confident you're learning from a trainer whose programmes have been independently assessed and meet nationally recognised standards.

What is ORDIT?

ORDIT stands for the Official Register of Driving Instructor Training.

Managed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the register recognises instructor trainers who meet nationally recognised standards for delivering professional instructor training.

Becoming ORDIT registered isn't automatic. Trainers are independently assessed to ensure they demonstrate the knowledge, instructional ability and professional standards expected by the DVSA, with ongoing monitoring to maintain those standards.

For trainee instructors, it provides reassurance that your training follows a structured, recognised approach.

What Does This Mean for You?

Choosing an ORDIT registered trainer means you'll benefit from:

  • A structured training programme
  • Coaching aligned with current DVSA expectations
  • Consistent, constructive feedback
  • Professional support throughout your qualification
  • Training delivered to recognised national standards

Whether you're preparing for Parts 1, 2 and 3 or continuing your development as a qualified ADI, ORDIT accreditation provides confidence that your training is built on recognised best practice.

Is ORDIT Accreditation Mandatory?

No. Driving instructor trainers don't have to be ORDIT registered to provide instructor training.

However, ORDIT registration offers an additional level of professional recognition and independent quality assurance, giving trainees confidence that their trainer has met nationally recognised standards and continues to maintain them.
